Nico Vega

Bands with female lead singers are often all-too-easily pigeonholed into one genre or another, this stereotype or that stereotype. Aja Volkman, however, singer of Los Angeles band Nico Vega, belts out soulful and fierce vocals that prevent most listeners from being able to stamp them into one genre easily. The band's blend of Tina Turner-esque soul/funk and modern rock caused their self-released Choose Your Words Poorly to garner much critical attention and now the band is back with their new single, "Cocaine Cooked The Brain." The single is a collaboration between Nico Vega and producer Sam Spiegel, the man behind the lauded Yeah Yeah Yeahs album Show Your Bones and also known in DJ circles as the famed Squeak E Clean.

This IAMSOUND Records release is a one-off collaboration that also features a remix by electro remix masters Guns N Bombs. It will be available on iTunes and limited 7” release, sold on the IAMSOUND website.
